The 9th Annual Current Trends in English Language Testing Conference (CTELT) will take place at Dubai Men’s College on November 16-17, 2005. This annual conference is hosted by Dubai Men’s College, the Higher Colleges of Technology and Zayed University, and is organized by the TESOL Arabia Testing, Assessment, and Evaluation SIG.

The CTELT Conference, now in its 9 th year, has as its theme “Back to Basics.” This international conference will feature the work of five prominent academics/testers. Plenary speakers include:

Featured speeches will be offered by Craig McWilliam (Cambridge ESOL) and Ahmar Mahboob ( University of Sydney, Australia). CTELT 2005 will also feature an exhibition of the latest educational software, testing packages and textbooks. Over 40 presentations showcasing some of the excellent testing and teacher education work being done in the region will also be on offer at the conference. Locally-based testing specialists, Peter Davidson, Dwight Lloyd (Zayed University), Paul Jaquith, Lisa Barlow and Maxine Gillway (UAE University), John Langille (University of Sharjah) and Christine Coombe (Higher Colleges of Technology) will offer featured sessions on various aspects of assessment.

The conference will start at 9:00 am and finish at 5:00 pm. Registration is free for TESOL Arabia members and the costs are 50 AED per day for non-members. Lunch is available in the DMC cafeteria at an additional cost to participants.
